Low milk supply in Breastfeeding

Posted by Anonymous on - 1 reply

My milk supply is low and baby stared to lose weight, so started formula when the baby was 1 week. After that, he stopped breastfeeding and he does not latch at all. I express my milk and feed him but the amount of milk I get is only 20 to 40 ml and even less than that sometimes. Please help me, as I want to go back to breastfeeding again. Thanks

Many thanks for your question about increasing your milk supply and getting baby back onto the breast.

Express your milk 6-8 times in 24 hours including once at night; the amount of milk should begin to increase.

Offer baby the breasts immediately, before and after his bottle feeds.

Please see my download attached that shows different ways to feed your baby formula milk and expressed breastmilk; these don't use bottles which babies can easily prefer to breastfeeding.

Consider taking Fenugreek capsules or tea to improve milk supply.

Eat a healthy varied diet to ensure a minimum of 2500 calories a day.

Hope this is helpful,
