Baby only feeding on one breast in Breastfeeding

Posted by Anonymous on - 1 reply

I'm breastfeeding my baby but she doesn't accept my left breast as she continues to suck my right breast. Now there's no milk in left breast, is it ok?

Thank you for your question about baby feeding from one breast only. This is normal for babies to have a preference for one breast; the milk in the other breast will just dry up.

If you would like baby to feed from both breasts, try offering her the dry breast first at the beginning or end of the feed for as long as she will happily stay there.

In addition, you can also begin to get the milk back in the dry breast by expressing the dry breast 4-6 times a day by hand or pump if you have one.

Hope this is helpful,
