Thank you for your question about your baby's grandmother giving your 2.5 month old baby cereal.

Unfortunately, this was not a good thing to do as baby is far too young for solid foods including cereal. The UK Department of Health, and WHO (World Health Organisation) recommend exclusive breastfeeding for a minimum of 6 months. The consequences of baby continuing to be offered solid foods before 6 months include: displacement of milk feeds and weight loss, gut sensitisation to the possible allergens in cereal including wheat and gluten.

Hope this helpful.
