Many thanks for your email about losing weight whilst breastfeeding.

As your baby is 8 months old you will have by now metabolised the brown/grey fat stores laid down in pregnancy for breastfeeding.

It is my understanding that Weight Watchers and Slimming World both have excellent diet plans that enable weight loss without affecting your ability to continue to breastfeed your baby.

Typically a good diet for breastfeeding includes the following foods:
Complex carbohydrates; Rice, potatoes, grains.
Fruit and vegetables,
Protein, meat, fish, eggs.
Avoid sweets, biscuits, cakes etc.

Hope this helps and well done for continuing to breastfeed your baby.

Thank you very much Katherine. It certainly does Help
I wanted to ask also about broccoli ,cauliflower ,cabbage and letter, are they dangerous for my baby.Do they cause colic? I get different views about it and now I'm not sure whether I should eat them or not.

Many thanks for contacting me again.

Yes you are correct about broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, causing gut motility issues in some breastfed babies.

These foods are members of the Brassica family and in common with leguminous vegetables; Lentils and beans contain Sulphur, which can cause baby's gut via breast milk to work quicker producing colic-like symptoms.

I hope this information is helpful.
