Hello. As soon as i found out i was pregnant, i removed my nipple piercings. I only had them in for 4 months. Do you think they will be a barrier for me when attempting to breastfeed when my baby is born in April?

Thank you for your email and questions about nipple piercings and being able to breastfeed. Usually the only difficulty arises if there is some scaring from the healing process which may have closed some of the nipple pores not allowing milk through, the milk supply from the tissue serving the nipple pore may shut down and not produce milk. However as we have between 5-7 nipple pores it shouldn't be too much of a problem and the baby can be fed normally. You may just need to wait and see when baby is born and baby starts breastfeeding, It is my experience that nipple piercings rarely cause a problem with breastfeeding. If there is any problem please contact me again via the Q&A.
