Hi, my baby is 4 months old on Monday, he has started to feed even morefrequently at night, he previously would feed perhaps every 2.5 - 3 or 4 hours, but recently he has fed more like every hour, I think it's more of a comfort thing, he has never taken a dummy. I'm not sure how I can get him to go longer?

Thank you for your email and questions about your baby beginning to feed more at night. The cyclical waking you describe ie every 90 mins or so can be associated with baby going from light to deep sleep and a minor event like a stuffed nose, uncomfortable nappy, room too hot/cold/light/dark or simply feeling a little peckish or wantin to know that you are nearby, may cause baby to wake fully. Strategies that may help include: patting baby down to sleep, use of a soother if its your choice, or offering a expressed breast milk feed at your bedtime.
