What can I do about sharp stabbing pain in left breast? I've been breastfeeding for 4 weeks. This pain only started yesterday.

Hi thank you for your question, it sounds like you may have ductal candiasis-Thrush, a fungal infection in the breast. Please see you GP for assessment to confirm or exclude this. If it is Ductal Candiasis ideally the GP can send a sample of your breastmilk for microbiology assessment before treatment with an oral antifungal medication. Some milk sample microbiology reports can also confirm bacterial infection which can be treated with antibiotics.
